CLUB/PLAYER/PARENT AGREEMENT INTRODUCTION
Over the years we have enjoyed many successes with our involvement in youth basketball. We have learned one key ingredient of success is clear consistent communication between club, coaches, players and parents. This agreement is one way of explaining in detail the expectations of Calirebels Basketball Club. It will help identify some potential problem areas and at the same time answer questions about the club decision making process. As you have committed to become a member of Calirebels Basketball Club, please take the time to read the following pages carefully.
THE CLUB AND THE TEAM
Members of our club or only allowed to play for one team, unless arrangements are made prior to signing this commitment contract. If not agreed upon prior to start date, a player can be asked to leave with no refund. If a player is on financial assistance after proof of income verification, the full amount for the five month commitment will be billed at once if the director finds suitable.
GAME PLAY, GYM TIMES AND LOCATION
We will ideally play in 1.5 to two tournaments per month. The min amount of game will be 5 and the max can be up to 10. We make every effort to pre-schedule tournament dates so that families can adequately plan their schedules. Please understand that changes to the schedule may occur that are out of our control, but we will give every attempt to provide adequate notice of any changes. The cost of tournaments are completely covered in the club dues, with the exception of the out-of-town tournaments. We will do our best with keeping gym times, days and locations consistent, but please understand we are renting these facilities and the owners or the city entities that rent the court space can choose what to do and when with little notice. Prorates will not be offered in the cases of black out dates. Also please keep the weekends free when there are tournaments planned. If players do other sports we can try and schedule Saturdays only the best we can to work with other sports.
We give you the weekends that we are going to play ahead of time so you can plan and leave those two entire days open. We have no control of game times and the times are released usually the Thursday evening before the games begin. We will send them to you as soon as we get them.
SEASON COMMITMENT
Committing to the entire five month season with Calirebels is very important, we will take this very seriously. The season starts the day you sign this agreement unless otherwise discussed with a director. If you decide to take a break from the club after the five months, a 30 day notice is required. If 30 days is not given the five month commitment restarts automatically. This contract stays intact until we have written notice. There are no refunds for early exits. If you decide to leave before the full five month commitment, you will be billed for the remainder of time you have in the club. By signing this contract you are agreeing to these terms and are giving us permission to bill the card on file or send you a paper invoice that must be paid within fourteen days of the date printed on the invoice in the case where a card is cancelled.
For example, if you leave at the end of month two you will be billed for the remaining three months at once.
Team Selection:
Players maybe moved onto other teams based on performance from where they originally started. We want to set high standards and treat it as higher level basketball not just recreational.
After years of running a club, here is why we have set these rules into place:
When a player leaves abruptly it effects the team tremendously.
1. It can cause a huge ripple effect hurting the experience of other players.
2. We have to go out and find other players to just fill spots
team chemistry is ruined
3. We have to find guest players to fill in usually from our other teams which put other families in tough positions as they want to enjoy weekends off, but want to help members of their club in a time of need.
4. The remaining families get uneasy and feel that the team is going to fall apart creating fear hurting the overall culture.
We dont want players to be left with a less than suitable team experience.
The effects are profound and can take weeks or months to fix and mend. Therefore, WE WILL take this as far as a collection agency to make sure this contract is upheld. Most families and players are very good about this.
This section is not meant to insensitive or brash in anyway, but past experience have made it necessary to treat the five month commitment as such. If there are issues a resolution is a conversation away.
We understand there are circumstances that need serious review and compassion and we are open to discussions and reasonable remedies.
Parents:
Parental support and involvement in the club is essential. If your son or daughter is selected and chooses to commit to Calirebels Basketball Club, parental commitment is also necessary. If a player is to make a quality commitment to the club and their team, the parents must see to it the player attends all possible club and team functions (practices, meetings, games, etc.). The club requires your communication, planning, and understanding so we can minimize conflicts to keep the player experience enhanced. It is the club’s responsibility to present a periodic schedule to allow time for your planning. When a player or parent has an unavoidable scheduling conflict the club expects timely communication to see if the necessary adjustments can be made for the team. The team coach will consult with the program director to make make final decisions on scheduling and adjustments after careful consideration of individual member needs and those of the club or team.
There will be no sideline coaching by parents. No matter how good your intentions are we insist there be no shouting instructions to your son or daughter or complaining to officials during games and about coaches. Your vocal support and positive encouragement are welcome after a good play. We want to make sure what is said in huddles are not effected by sideline coaching.
Players should only receive one set of instructions before, during, and after practices or games. For this reason the club insists the team coach be the only voice at all games and practices. No one other than those listed on the official game roster may sit on or near the team bench before and during games (please respect the space and privacy necessary for the coach and team to carry out their game responsibilities).
Parents must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with a healthy team environment. Remember, playing only to win without taking healthy team and player growth into account will not result in a solid foundation upon which your son or daughter will be prepared for achieving positive results in high school and after. Its more than holding up plastic trophies.
If there is an issue please find the appropriate moment and time to communicate or ask questions about your son or daughters basketball growth (never directly after a game). Please take the initiative to encourage your son or daughter to speak up and communicate for themselves whenever possible. We will instruct your son or daughter to ignore adverse conditions such as poor officiating, obscenities, rough play, negative behavior by opponents or parents and general poor sportsmanship directed at them.
Parents if you have an issue, please talk to your coach. Each coach is open to discussion under reasonable and non-threatening conditions. Parents should not take it upon themselves to talk to other parents who have zero control of any of the decisions the staff and program makes. Please feel free to speak to each source of where the concern manifests. If this becomes an issue your player will be asked to withdraw from his/her team with NO REFUNDS. Once again we ask that no communication is initiated directly after a game.
